Aftercare

Healing is part of the artwork.

Follow these steps closely and reach out if you are unsure at any point. Good healing protects line quality, contrast, and longevity.

Immediately After Your Appointment

  • Keep your initial wrap on for about 2–4 hours unless we discussed otherwise.
  • If we used second skin, follow the exact wear-time instructions we reviewed in person.

First Wash

  • Wash your hands first.
  • Use lukewarm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
  • Clean gently, then pat dry with a clean paper towel.
  • Let it air dry for 10–15 minutes before applying product.

Days 1–3

  • Apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor or light ointment; it should never look greasy.
  • Wash and moisturize 2–3 times per day.
  • Wear clean, loose clothing that does not rub the area.

Days 4–14

  • Switch from ointment to fragrance-free lotion.
  • Wash 1–2 times per day and moisturize as needed.
  • Peeling and flaking are normal during this stage.

Do NOT

  • Pick or scratch the tattoo.
  • Soak it in baths, pools, hot tubs, or open water.
  • Expose it to direct sun while healing.
  • Shave over the area while it is healing.
  • Use scented lotions or harsh products.

What’s Normal

  • Mild redness in the first day or two.
  • Light tenderness and warmth around the area.
  • Peeling, flaking, and some itchiness as it heals.
  • Ink settling as the top layer recovers.

Contact Me If You Notice

  • Redness spreading instead of calming down.
  • Unusual swelling or pain that keeps increasing.
  • Any signs that worry you — send a clear photo and I will review it.

Long-Term Care

  • After it is fully healed, wear SPF 30+ on the tattoo in sun exposure.
  • Keep skin moisturized to maintain contrast and clarity.
  • Treat it like artwork — protect it and it will stay sharp longer.
